Schedule: Monday-Friday 7 am- 3:30 pm 

Job Title: Code Compliance Officer

The City of Redmond seeks a proactive and diplomatic Code Compliance Officer to perform professional, technical, and administrative work enforcing the City's codes and ordinances. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating the Community Development Code Compliance program.

Essential Duties:

• Enforce building, property maintenance, and other applicable codes relating to health, safety, welfare, construction, and community preservation
• Investigate complaints of code violations through site inspections, research, and evaluation of relevant codes/ordinances
• Contact property owners, issue notices/citations, and take corrective action to resolve violations
• Maintain detailed records, case files, and prepare reports on inspection activities
• Represent the City and provide testimony in legal proceedings related to code violations
• Develop educational materials and public awareness campaigns for the Code Compliance program
• Respond to inquiries from the public, staff, and external parties regarding code compliance

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree in business administration, criminal justice, or related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in code enforcement, community development, law enforcement, or related field
• Excellent customer service, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills
• Ability to interpret and apply municipal codes and regulations
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record
• Knowledge of principles and operations of local government

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of direct code compliance/enforcement experience, preferably in a municipal setting. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
