Overview:

Our client is currently looking for an experienced and dynamic Controller to oversee and provide strategic direction for all accounting activities within our organization. Reporting directly to the AVP of Accounting and serving as a key advisor to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across various departments.

 Responsibilities:

• Set the strategy and provide direction for accounting activities including accounts payable, cash application, credit & collections, fixed assets, payroll, revenue accounting, shipboard financial operations, shoreside hotel and marine accounting, corporate accounting, and general ledger maintenance.
• Collaborate with the AVP of Accounting to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial closes of the general ledger.
• Oversee the timely dissemination of financial information to relevant stakeholders.
• Serve as a key advisor to the CFO, providing insights and recommendations on financial matters.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounting function.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address any audit findings or recommendations.
• Stay abreast of accounting standards, regulations, and best practices, and ensure compliance with evolving requirements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
• Experience in the wholesale distribution industry
• Strong technical accounting skills with a deep understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Proven track record of successfully leading accounting teams and driving process improvements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to nonfinancial stakeholders.
• Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is mandatory
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.

 

This is a direct hire position with full benefits. Salary: $120K - $150K based upon experience
