The Sr. Electrical Design Engineer *Contractor* will support the design team in new product designs for development of Wind, PV, and Energy Storage products. The Sr. Electrical Design Engineer will Develop and maintain 2D CAD drawings (e.g. DXF’s, PFD’s, P&ID’s, One-Lines, General Layouts for all disciplines, etc.) using software such as AutoCAD (required), Microstation and/or SmartSketch. Will support the development of installation and integration systems, lab systems and test beds. Will support prototype FFF (form, fit, function) as well as FAI (first article inspection) activities. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Reviews engineering drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
  • Develop computer generated drawings, isometrics, details, plans, schedules, and data sheets.
  • Prepare dimensional drawings for layouts and non-dimensional drawings such as one lines, etc.
  • Revises drawings based on instructions from engineers, etc.
  • Communicate effectively and work with other members of the design team on each individual project assignment. Interface management across disciplines.
  • Document control support, database administration, and progress reporting.
  • Coordination and communication of various issues among the company and contractor’s engineering team that affect the discipline engineering drawings.
  • Keep Supervisor informed of discipline engineering progress, deviations, and execution concerns.
  • Support internal engineering general interest or Global Practice initiatives as requested by Supervisor.

·         Responsible for definition of design inputs, prototyping, feasibility testing protocols and the

concept selection process.

·         Responsible for creating and maintaining device/product specifications (typically includes 2D models and prints).

·         Responsible for completion of design verification and validation activities by developing or collaborating with testing partners to develop test methodologies when consensus testing standards are not applicable. Also, includes engineering study development, evaluation, and execution, if applicable.

·         Provides technical support to cross-functional team members including but not limited to technically reviewing marketing collaterals, providing product information for regulatory submissions, and making technical product presentations to customers and sales teams.

·         Responsible for planning, processing, and performing all given tasks in an efficient manner.

·         Manage issues and follow up with appropriate teams to ensure all issues are resolved prior to final product release.

·         Detect critical issues in a timely manner to increase product quality and stability in a rapidly progressing industry.

·         Provide recommendations to management concerning issues detected.

·         Requires movement and transportation of equipment or samples with a high IP (intellectual property) security mentality.

·         Perform work under time schedules which are normally periodic or cyclical and include: time sensitive job stress, fatigue, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and product management stress.

  

Technical Competencies: 

·         Experience and familiarity with Wind, PV and Energy Storage Systems.

·         Familiar with product data management (PDM) best practices

·         Strong and effective interdepartmental communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.

·         Expert Proficiency: AutoCAD 2D CAD (electrical, parts, assemblies, & drawings)

·         Medium Proficiency: Microsoft Office 365 software ecosystem

·         Medium Proficiency: Time management & prioritizing various tasks.

Education and/or Experience:

Education 

*Work experience may be substituted for educational requirements*

 

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Required: 10 years of Electrical design related experience

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in CAD Electrical or related study
