As a Welder, you will play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of steel components for potato equipment and other agricultural machinery. You will be responsible for performing various welding processes to join metal parts and structures according to engineering specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine welding requirements and specifications.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including TIG and stick welders, to fabricate and assemble metal components.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and beveling as needed to ensure proper fit and weld penetration.
  • Weld components together using appropriate welding techniques and filler materials to achieve the desired strength and integrity.
  • Inspect welds for defects, such as cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion, and make necessary repairs to meet quality standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing welding tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the welding area by disposing of scrap materials, cleaning equipment, and storing tools properly.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators, machinists, and engineers, to ensure efficient workflow and quality craftsmanship.
  • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding skills and knowledge of fabrication techniques.

Requirements:

  • Certificate or diploma in welding or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a welder.
  • Proficiency in various welding processes, including TIG and stick welding, with the ability to produce high-quality welds.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality and accuracy in welding tasks.
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks, lift and move heavy objects, and work in various positions and environments.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.
