Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Location: DeKalb, IL

Shift Type: Full-time, M - F, 4 PM - 2:30 AM

Pay Rate: $35-40 per hour (based on experience)

Job Description:

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for daily tasks and long-term projects while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of all machinery and equipment in the facility. You will play a critical role in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, troubleshooting various issues, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Equipment Troubleshooting and Repairs:

• Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions and apply knowledge of the functional operation of electric units and systems.
• Use mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical aptitude to repair a variety of hydraulic metal stamping presses.
• Oversee troubleshooting and repair activities to address equipment malfunctions promptly and efficiently.
• Connect and access PLC program software and effectively troubleshoot various issues.
• Install new machinery or move reallocated machines to new production lines by disassembly and rebuild.

Preventive Maintenance Programs:

• Design and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment breakdowns and extend the lifespan of machinery.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential issues and proactively address them.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate equipment logs.
• Keep records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history.

Team Leadership:

• Follow directives of Maintenance Manager regarding daily tasks and long-term projects.
• Adhere to and assist Operators, Technicians, Management and Engineering in following PM schedules.
• Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to foster a positive work environment and ensure a high level of performance and productivity.

Safety Compliance:

• Always follow and promote manufacturing safety guidelines and compliance standards.
• Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and accidents.

Physical Requirements:

• MUST be able to be on your feet for 10+hrs.
• MUST be able to lift 50 + lbs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for long periods of time.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 – 2 + years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• 3 – 5 + years of experience using power tools, measuring tools, platform lifts and boom lift.
• 5+ years of experience with industrial 480 volt.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow basic, intermediate, or complex blueprints and schematics.
• Background in mechanics and understanding of basic math skills.
• Experienced with hand or power tools, welding practices, and various torches.
• Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
• Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of industrial machinery.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment.
