Location: Sycamore, IL
(TRAINING IS IN HAMPSHIRE, IL)
Shift Type: Full-time, Monday – Friday: 11 PM – 7 AM
Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Furnace Operator to join our team on the 3rd shift! As a furnace operator, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting furnace equipment to ensure the safe and efficient production of materials according to established protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Transport and load processed wire for annealing using overhead crane or forklift and according to work orders.
  • Select line(s) which most effectively anneal material while considering alloy, size, and temperature required for annealing, cast, and speed.
  • Weld and grind butt welds.
  • Check concentration, temperature, voltage, and overall operation of stripper tanks and rinse tanks.
  • Record readings and add chemical or flush as required to maintain proper chemical balance (required every shift).
  • Verify hydro-check concentration, temperature, voltage, and overall operation of stripper tanks and rinse tanks. gen flow. Inspect wire cleanliness and color.
  • Periodically inspect and clean furnace tubes – may be required to assist maintenance in replacing or rebuilding furnace and related equipment.
  • Group completed wire together by work order for further processing in shipping or storage area.
  • Operate furnace equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on furnace equipment to ensure optimal performance and troubleshoot/resolve issues that may arise.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals and targets.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read work orders and follow directions.
  • Ability to measure using a micrometer and other gauges.
  • Previous experience operating furnace equipment preferred.
  • Previous experience with welding and welding techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift, learn, and be cross-trained.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
