General Machinist

Salary: $26hr

Job Summary:

A General Machinist is a skilled professional who uses a variety of machine tools and cutting instruments to manufacture precision metal parts. They are responsible for reading blueprints and technical drawings, setting up and operating machines, and ensuring that parts meet all quality specifications. General machinists are employed in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and construction.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other specifications.
• Select and set up appropriate machine tools and cutting instruments.
• Securely set up and clamp workpieces in machines.
• Operate machines to cut, shape, drill, and grind metal parts according to specifications.
• Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments as needed.
• Measure parts to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances.
• Deburr and finish parts as required.
• Maintain and clean machine tools and workspace.
• Follow safety procedures and regulations.
• May perform basic welding and brazing.
• May write and maintain documentation of machining processes.
• Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong math and measurement skills.
• Experience operating a variety of machine tools.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• At  least  2years of experience
