Sand Blaster
1. Operates abrasive-blasting equipment.a. Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper.b. Masks specified areas of object to protect from abrading action.c. Loads parts on racks in enclosed rooms, into tumbling barrels or into cabinets.d. Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel. e. Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas or liquid over surface of parts.f. Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.g. Operate forklift to move components to blast booth.h. Must be able to fix blast hose or replace as needed.
2. Operate forklift to move components.3. Maintains quality and efficiencya. Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.b. Follows written work instruction and/or pictorials to recognize when equipment is functioning incorrectly.
4. Adheres to safety proceduresa. Complies with all safety procedures and wears paint jumpsuits, masks and eye gear.5. Keeps work area cleana. Cleans work area daily. Sweeps and disposes of blasting abrasives.6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
