A local manufacturing plant in Conroe, TX is searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor to assist in the company’s daily operations. This is a direct-hire position in a fast-paced environment and the ideal candidate will have extensive experience in risk assessment, PHA, PSM, and NFPA code knowledge. Job Summary:

 

The Environmental Health, and Safety Supervisor is responsible for directing and implementing all company safety programs and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and requirements.

 

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Inspecting the facility, conducting risk assessments to identify safety, health, and environmental risks, and making recommendations for corrective or preventative measures.
  • Research and update the company management on current work and OSHA/ plant regulations that could affect directly or indirectly the safety of the facility.
  • Promptly complete incident or accident investigations, completing and maintaining all site-required documentation related to safety issues, i.e., accident reports, inspection reports, and training logs.
  • Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies, procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections and improvement initiatives for the daily management of ongoing safety operations.
  • Develop and revise health and safety procedures and SOP’s.
  • Prepare, schedule and present training to cover emergency response plan, workplace safety, and other relevant safety topics on a weekly basis to staff.
  • Monitor compliance of safety procedures and take corrective action when needed.
  • Support and promote general safety in compliance with company policies, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Develop, manage, and enforce the company''s drug policy.
  • Issue hot work and confined space permits for maintenance and other departments as needed.
  • Ordering of safety supplies, PPE, etc.
  • Manage transactions with external regulatory agencies (i.e., Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Department of Transportation, Homeland Security, etc.).
  • Provide leadership to the senior management team regarding objectives and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to train and present safety information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA), workers'' compensation
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act (EPA) laws and regulations a plus
  • Certifications in CPR and first aid are preferred.

 

Requirements:

  • Conduct daily audits and walk-throughs to identify and eliminate hazards.
  • Perform incident investigations and provide comprehensive reports.
  • Manage and purchase all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the facility.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for new employees.
  • Lead and facilitate weekly safety meetings.
  • Proficiency in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), hot work, and confined space permits
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment, Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred
  • Five years of related experience in chemical manufacturing
