Yard Operator

Located in Beaumont, TX

Express has an industrial company searching for a yard operator The Yard Operator is a key member of the shipping and receiving team, responsible for managing the flow of materials, including industrial mats and oil field equipment, within the yard. This position requires a combination of logistical expertise, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency in handling specialized equipment such as forklifts and skid steers. The Yard Operator will oversee the movement of materials, ensure accurate inventory management, and maintain a safe and organized yard environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shipping and Receiving:

   • Receive incoming shipments of industrial mats, oil field equipment, and related materials, verifying quantities and quality against shipping documents.
   • Organize and maintain inventory of incoming materials, including industrial mats, frac tanks, and other equipment, ensuring proper storage and labeling.
   • Prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating transportation arrangements.
   • Document and track inventory movements using designated software systems.

2. Equipment Operation:

   • Operate forklifts and skid steers to move materials, load and unload trucks, and position equipment within the yard.
   • Must have experience with 8-10k rated reach lift.
   • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
   • Assist with the assembly, disassembly, and maintenance of frac tanks, industrial mats, and other equipment as needed.

3. Yard Management:

   • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
   • Monitor inventory levels of industrial mats and other materials, communicating any shortages or discrepancies to management.
   • Implement and enforce proper storage practices to prevent damage to materials and equipment.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

   • Coordinate with other departments, such as logistics, operations, and maintenance, to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders.
   • Communicate effectively with vendors, drivers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations.
   • Provide support and assistance to team members as needed to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in logistics, equipment operation, or related fields preferred.
• Prior experience in shipping and receiving, preferably in an industrial or oil field environment.
• Proficiency in operating forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy equipment; valid operator certifications required.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with frac tanks, oil field equipment, industrial mats, and related machinery.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
