Field Interviewers conduct 20-minute, semi-structured in-person interviews with residents in long-term care facilities using a tablet device.  Residents may have a wide range of health and medical conditions and varying physical and/or cognitive abilities. Core questions evaluate the quality of life for people with disabilities who receive state services. For more information, please refer to the Assisted Living Report Card.

This part-time, temporary, project is overseen by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. It will commence with virtual training May 20 and 21, 2024. Field Interviewers participate in a combination of classroom, virtual, and field-based training to receive instruction on how to conduct face-to-face interviews. This role provides an opportunity to combat the social isolation many residents face through face-to-face interaction.

 20-30 hours per week - No evenings or week-end work. YOU WILL GO TO 1 FACILITY A DAY IN THE SEVEN COUNTY METRO REGION. 

Compensation

·         Work Time: $22.75 per hour (includes conducting interviews, etc.)

·         Mileage: $0.40 per mile

·         Drive time: $15.19 per hour From your house to a facility and return

·         Print stipend: $3 per week

·         Other reimbursements may be included.

 

Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the facilities by 8:30 a.m. and must be available to stay at facilities until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as needed.
  • Travel up to 75 miles one-way daily to facilities with potential to travel further if needed.
  • Working hours will include time spent at facilities, time spent driving to and from facilities, paid breaks during each 4-hour work period, and a 30 minute on-site paid lunch period. Interviewers use a small portion of the paid lunch to review progress from the morning and plans for the afternoon. Actual hours worked per day will vary. Drive time will vary depending on facility location.
  • Use a tablet computer, conduct 20-minute, structured interviews.
  • Be punctual, work independently, and remain neutral when conducting interviews.
  • Keep organized records of interviews and update respondent status daily (e.g., completed interviews, refusals, etc.).
  • Comply with confidentiality, federal HIPAA regulations, and adhere to data security requirements.
  • Have strong communication skills.
  • Pass observation interviews, as evaluated by Quality Assurance Mentors, on a regular basis.

 

Requirements

·         Comfort interacting with older adults, and others with physical, behavioral, and/or other disabilities.

  • Demonstrate concern and sensitivity to issues of disability, illness, and communication challenges.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organization, time management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate skillfully and in a timely manner via email, phone, and in-person.
  • Must have a private desktop or laptop computer, reliable wireless Internet, and printer to be able to print from home.
  • Proficient with email, uploading/downloading files, Internet use, and troubleshooting possible technical glitches.
  • Ability to read, type, and record responses accurately on a handheld tablet computer (e.g., Kindle, iPad) with a touchscreen.
  • Ability to follow structured protocols to comply with confidentiality and federal HIPAA regulations.
  • Must have own reliable transportation, with valid driver license and current automobile insurance.
  • Adhere to a business casual dress code and other personal requirements.
  • Must pass paid classroom and field training prior to beginning employment.
