Greenhouse Assistant

Salary: $18-20/hr

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Greenhouse Assistant. In this role, you will work within in controlled environment, supporting various team members and contributing to all aspects of the workload. Type: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $18-20/hour

 

Responsibilities:

• Support and perform all cropping activities from sowing to processing seeds with agility
• Transplant, irrigate, fertilize, prune, harvest, pollinate, sample, and devitalize plants in a production-scale environment
• Perform greenhouse cleaning tasks such as washing down floors and walls
• Assist with soilless media mixing, filling pots, and applying fertilizers required in the production pipeline
• Aid in any assigned activities to support team members and ensure the delivery of quality materials
• Assist in data collection and recording for plant health and trait characterization projects
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and comprehensive records of all tasks performed
• Adhere to all regulatory, stewardship, quality management systems, and environmental, health, and safety requirements

Requirements:

• Willingness to work weekends and select holidays
• Ability to work in adverse greenhouse environments
• Capability to lift 50 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as walking, turning, twisting, reaching, or squatting
• Strong time-management skills
• Attention to detail, ownership, and execution of assigned tasks
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach, open to giving and receiving ideas, perspectives, and feedback
• Adaptability and ability to thrive in a constantly changing work environment
• Excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a team environment

Bonus Qualifications:

• Degree preferred but not required: Associate Science degree with relevant experience or Bachelor of Science in agronomy, horticulture, or related fields
• Experience with corn, soybeans, or wheat
• Experience in field or controlled environments
• Experience working with Microsoft or Google software
