Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Upholstery Technician to join our team. The Upholstery Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and functionality of medical equipment by repairing and upholstering various components. The ideal candidate will have experience in upholstery techniques, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering exceptional craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:

1. Upholstery Repair: Perform repairs and replacements on damaged upholstery components of medical equipment such as examination tables, patient chairs, and treatment beds.
2. Fabric Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate fabrics, vinyl, or other materials for upholstery repairs, considering factors such as durability, comfort, and infection control.
3. Measurement and Cutting: Take accurate measurements of furniture pieces and fabric, and skillfully cut materials to fit specific dimensions, ensuring a precise and professional finish.
4. Padding and Cushioning: Apply padding and cushioning materials to enhance comfort and support, adhering to industry standards and ergonomic principles.
5. Assembly and Installation: Assemble upholstered components onto medical equipment, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and functionality. Install hardware such as grommets, zippers, and fasteners as needed.
6. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to verify quality, consistency, and compliance with specifications and standards.
7. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of upholstery repairs, including materials used, labor hours, and any pertinent notes or observations.
8. Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the production team, including engineers, designers, and fabricators, to troubleshoot issues and optimize product performance.
9. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Stay informed about industry regulations and best practices related to upholstery and medical equipment.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Upholstery Technician or similar role, preferably in a medical equipment or healthcare environment.
• Proficiency in upholstery techniques, including fabric selection, cutting, sewing, and installation.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, and follow written instructions and diagrams.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Familiarity with upholstery tools and equipment, such as sewing machines, fabric cutters, and staple guns.
• Basic knowledge of ergonomics and human factors engineering is desirable.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in upholstery or a related field is a plus.
