Metal Shop Expeditor

 

Position Overview: As a Shop Expeditor, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the flow of materials and products through our metal shop. Your primary responsibilities will include managing inventory, operating forklifts, and ensuring accurate measurements. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills.

 

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with production teams to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of orders.
• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials within the shop.
• Conduct inventory checks and maintain accurate records of stock levels.
• Assist in receiving and inspecting incoming materials for quality and quantity.
• Monitor production schedules and communicate any delays or issues to relevant stakeholders.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs.
• Collaborate with supervisors to implement process improvements and enhance efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience operating forklifts in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in inventory control procedures and software.
• Strong mathematical skills with the ability to read and interpret measurements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in forklift operation.
• Experience working in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of basic machining processes and equipment.
• Familiarity with ERP or inventory management software.
