Cold Storage Facility Supervisor

Job Summary:

As a cold storage facility supervisor, you are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a refrigerated warehouse. Your role involves ensuring the efficient and safe storage, handling, and distribution of temperature-sensitive goods. You will lead a team of warehouse personnel, coordinate with other departments, and enforce compliance with regulatory standards.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Supervision and Leadership:**
   - Lead, train, and supervise warehouse staff, including selectors, forklift operators, and maintenance personnel.
   - Schedule shifts, assign tasks, and monitor performance to ensure productivity targets are met.
   - Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement among staff members.

2. **Inventory Management:**
   - Oversee the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods in compliance with company procedures.
   - Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement and logistics departments to ensure sufficient stock levels.
   - Implement inventory control measures to minimize shrinkage, damages, and expired goods.

3. **Quality Assurance:**
   - Maintain proper temperature and humidity levels within the facility to preserve the quality of stored goods.
   - Conduct regular inspections of equipment, facilities, and storage areas to identify and address maintenance issues.
   - Enforce quality control standards and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, such as food safety regulations.

4. **Operational Efficiency:**
   - Optimize warehouse layout and storage methods to maximize space utilization and streamline workflows.
   - Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for receiving, storing, and shipping goods.
   - Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

5. **Customer Service:**
   - Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to fulfill orders accurately and on time.
   - Address customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally.
   - Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering high-quality service and support.

6. **Compliance and Safety:**
   - Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OSHA and FDA guidelines.
   - Conduct safety training sessions and promote awareness of safe work practices among staff.
   - Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

**Qualifications and Skills:**

- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in warehouse management, preferably in a cold storage environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, warehouse equipment, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Certification in forklift operation and/or refrigeration systems (desirable).

**Physical Requirements:**

- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and work in cold temperatures (-20°C to 4°C).
- Stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
