Position Overview:

The Crane Operator and Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a 100-ton gantry crane to facilitate the loading and unloading of trucks with concrete materials. This role requires adeptness in operating heavy machinery, along with proficiency in rigging loads to ensure smooth and secure material handling processes.

Wage: $24-$27 hour DOE

Work Schedule - Monday-Friday Day Shift

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Crane Operation:

   - Safely operate a 100-ton gantry crane according to established procedures and safety guidelines.

   - Load and unload trucks with concrete materials using the crane, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

   - Monitor crane operations to detect any abnormalities or malfunctions, and promptly report issues to maintenance personnel.

   - Adhere to weight limits and load capacities to prevent accidents and maintain operational safety.

 

  1. Load Rigging:

   - Rig loads securely for lifting, ensuring proper attachment and distribution of weight.

   - Utilize appropriate rigging equipment and techniques to handle loads efficiently and safely.

   - Inspect rigging equipment regularly to identify any signs of wear or damage, and report findings for maintenance or replacement.

   - Collaborate with team members to coordinate load rigging activities and optimize workflow.

 

  1. Safety and Compliance:

   - Follow all safety protocols and procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.

   - Conduct pre-operation inspections of the crane and rigging equipment to verify their readiness for use.

   - Comply with relevant regulations and standards governing crane operation and material handling practices.

   - Participate in safety training sessions and maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.

 

  1. General Duties:

   - Assist with general maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating crane components, as needed.

   - Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate efficient operations and ensure safety.

   - Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel to support overall operational objectives.

 

Qualifications:

- Proven experience operating heavy machinery, preferably cranes, in an industrial setting.

- Proficiency in load rigging techniques and equipment.

- Ability to lift up to 50lbs safely and repeatedly.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

- Valid crane operator certification/license preferred.
