Material Handler

Located in Kentwood, MI

Salary: $16.00-18.00/HR, DOE

Material Handler Job Summary: A high-tech medical manufacturer is looking for a Material Handler to support production efforts to join their team. This company is a destination company with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Material Handler Responsibilities:

• Collect and sort material scrap generated during the production process
• Organize and store scrap materials in designated areas for recycling or disposal
• Coordinate with recycling vendors or waste management companies for the proper disposal of scrap materials
• Follow delivery schedules and prioritize urgent requests to ensure timely material distribution
• Collaborate with Value Stream Managers to plan and execute material delivery for upcoming jobs
• Safely operate material handling equipment, such as overhead cranes or pallet jacks, to transport raw materials to production areas
• Receive incoming raw materials, inspecting for quality and accuracy against purchase orders
• Accurately record received materials in inventory management systems
• Conduct regular inventory checks to ensure adequate stock levels and report discrepancies to the Shipping and Receiving Manager
• Work closely with Value Stream Managers to understand material requirements for each job
• Issue raw materials to production teams based on their work orders and material requisitions
• Maintain accurate records of material issuance to prevent shortages and overages
• Ability to drive between locations

Schedule and Pay: 

• $16.00-$18.00/HR, depending on experience
• 1st Shift 6:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday, weekend overtime may be required

Material Handler Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a similar material management or general labor role is an advantage
• Basic computer skills for data entry and inventory management tasks
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical fitness and the ability to up to 50 lbs repeatedly
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
