A manufacturing company in Boardman is looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to join their team!

 

Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for the overall performance of their assigned shift which includes safety, productivity, quality, employee development, and shift leadership. The Shift Supervisor understands and strives to meet the Key Performance Indicators and acts when the metrics are not met. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Produces product in accordance with the established schedule and set priorities
  • Monitors all work centers to meet established safety, productivity, and quality standards
  • Reviews scrap throughout production, analyzes data, identifies root causes and takes corrective actions through direction and working with production, tool room, maintenance, and engineering
  • Conducts necessary training for all employees assigned to the shift
  • Gives daily instruction to Lead Person, Assistant Lead Person, and Material Handlers regarding assignments, tasks, training, and production schedule
  • Works with Engineering, Tool Room, Shipping/Receiving, Plant Manager, Maintenance, and others to lead an efficient, safe shift
  • Identifies and recommends improvements to processes, training, quality, and methodologies
  • Completes all necessary documents for reporting purposes including production reports, attendance, engineering change logs, master process logs, set up and start up, and line clearance
  • Makes necessary changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase safety and efficiency
  • Completes Performance Reviews and Disciplinary Actions on time and submits documents to Plant Manager
  • Leads and instructs Material Handler for accurate material changes and inventory movements
  • Makes recommendations to Tooling and Maintenance for routine mold and equipment Preventative Maintenance and repairs
  • Maintains housekeeping and maintains a well-organized production area. Follows 5S guidelines
  • Works with Human Resources and Plant Manager to ensure proper staffing levels on the shift
  • Daily use of company ERP system (IQMS) in all areas of production including Real Time, Shift Reports, PM Modules etc
  • Supports the plant Safety Steering Committee to ensure all safety requirements are met regarding robotics, guarding, and press safety
  • Submits timely reports to Plant Management regarding process performance, continuous improvement recommendations, equipment recommendations, training, and quality improvements
  • Reviews Machine Hours report with Plant Manager and Sr. Process Engineering Manager, identifies root causes and corrective actions
  • Advise the Quality Department of any process changes made, because of the possibility of changing some other dimension or characteristics of the part
  • Performs new tooling sampling when required
  • Maintains proper documentation of processes parameters of production molds, and the machines associated with a production order
  • Provide (2) two last shots to Quality prior to a mold change. The last shots will be used to determine tool modification or repair. Any additional information regarding the condition of the tool should also be forwarded to the Quality Manager
  • Provide proper documentation to the Maintenance Department for equipment repair
  • Investigate opportunities for improvement in scrap, machine downtime, and employee knowledge of awareness of potential quality issues
  • Cover for other shift work schedules when there is sickness or vacation by another Supervisor
  • Work overtime as required to meet customer orders and demands
  • Provide and maintain the highest level of safety for the employees

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as Production Supervisor
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience of processing, troubleshooting, and start-up of injection molding presses
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience using various types of plastic materials in the injection molding process
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Organizational and leadership abilities as well as problem-solving skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • High School Diploma: Degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of MS Office

Shift: Afternoons or Midnights (there is one opening per shift)

 

Pay Rate: $26.44/hour
