Service Technician

Salary: $18.00 - $24.00/HR

Service Technician Job Summary:

A growing West Michigan company is looking to add a Service Technician to its team in Grand Rapids to provide top-notch customer service, product installation, and product repair to clients through the greater Grand Rapids area. This is a traveling role requiring a valid driver’s license.

 

Service Technician Responsibilities:

• Travels daily to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all makes of automatic doors and components
• Establishes and maintains a positive relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers. Examines complaints, identifies solutions, suggests improved methods and techniques and recommends improvements. Communicates with customers verbally and in writing
• Maintains knowledge of all operations and parts manuals associated with all equipment. Maintains job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reviewing technical publications
• Documents service and installation activities by completing work orders for each job, maintenance logs and daily time sheets
• Serves as technical support for customers and Customer Service Managers.
• Works with office support to order and gather parts and supplies necessary to complete installations and repairs
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with established policies, procedures, rules and regulations

 

Service Technician Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience troubleshooting industrial / commercial electrical and mechanical systems. Able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment
• Working knowledge of electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting (motors, controls etc.)
• Proven customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges. Alert and watchful with a strong attention to detail
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
• Overtime and on call hours are sometimes required
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required, with or without accommodation, to stoop, kneel, bend, or crawl. Frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
• Valid state driver’s license with good driving record

Must pass pre-employment and random drug screens.
