1st shift and 2nd shift Welder needed in Ozaukee County

 

Job Purpose:   The welder uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill, holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operates equipment safely and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strikes arc by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective material and notifies supervisor.
  • Clamps, holds, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolts component parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, and flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
  • Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to the position
  • Follow all clean-up & housekeeping procedures (5S)

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of gauges to check parts (micrometers, calipers, protractors and square)
  • Basic shop math skills and high school level math
  • Basic English
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
