1^st 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM - M-Th

2^nd – 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM - M-Th

Job Purpose:   Sets up and operates production equipment primarily the Brake Press in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for set-up and operation of Brake Press for a variety of unusual Brake Press operations
• May also set-up and operate Punch Press
• Work from fairly complicated drawings, layouts, sketches, and templates to meet close tolerance and print specifications.
• Plan sequence of operations and select dies when not specified
• Assign operators in accordance with ability, check work and instruct as required
• Instruct employees on the proper and safe operations of equipment
• Make machine adjustments
• Must use drawing software to locate dimensioning
• Must supply own hand tools and measuring instruments
• Responsible for initial quality checks
• Responsible for maintaining the quality and production standards
• Insure operators are filling out the in-process inspection form
• Responsible for Maintaining Production Schedules to meet customers’ needs
• Fill out all paperwork as required
• Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to position
• Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures (5S)
• Understand and follow health, safety, security, quality, and environmental practices

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of hand tools
• Knowledge of gauges to check parts (micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, protractors and square)
• Ability to set-up machines
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read drawings
• Requires a fundamental knowledge of machine shop operations acquired by on the job training
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
