Position: Mid-Level Machinist 

Location: Texarkana, TX

Hours: Monday - Friday 

          6am - 2:30pm 

          10pm - 7am 

Pay:  $20

The purpose of the machinist is to set up and operate variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. They will also be responsible for fabrication and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools and/or maintain industrial machines.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
  2. Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
  3. Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  4. Sets, adjusts and operates all basic machine tools and many specialized and/or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
  5. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
  6. Monitors feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process
  7. Operates equipment to verify operational efficiency
  8. Confers with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
  9. Supports metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection and testing using knowledge of machine functions, metal properties and mathematics
  10. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations

 

Qualifications:

  1. Education/Certification/Licensure: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  2. Job Knowledge: Demonstrate knowledge of various metal grades, thicknesses, sizes, and basic welding and cutting processes
  3. Preferred: Ability to review and understand basic concepts from material list and/or drawings
