HEAVY EQUIPMENT/DIESEL MECHANIC

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct service and repairs on all light and heavy-duty construction equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, dump trucks, crushers and mining equipment, light-duty pickups, and small equipment

  • Routinely service fleet pickup trucks

  • Disassemble, assemble, and troubleshoot equipment for repair at a shop or on the job site

  • Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components including pump motors, valves and all related components, electrical systems, and air systems

  • Weld and fabricate material for equipment repairs

  • Operate crane on service trucks

  • Demonstrate the use of safety equipment and PPE in compliance with company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to minimize or eliminate the risk of workplace accidents

  • Report incidents immediately to the safety director, foreman, or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company

  • Perform all other duties as assigned to aid in the overall success of the company

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required and applicable trade school certification

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

  • A working knowledge of equipment brands: John Deere, Kubota, Bobcat, Kenworth, Alison, Ford, and more

  • Solid organizational skills to track and manage service records and inventory of equipment

  • Current driver’s license and good driving record

  • Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”)

  • Reliable and safety-minded

Preferred Skills

  • Must have physical strength and manual dexterity, including hand/eye coordination, to manage all materials and tasks as required per job

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, elevated platforms, work around moving equipment, work in dusty and or high wind environments

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50lbs regularly and stand/walk up to 90% of a normal workday

  • Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision and in a fast-paced environment with adherence to shop timelines for repairs

  • Possess good communication skills for internal and external customers
