Position Overview: The Community Employment Navigator plays a pivotal role in our organization, responsible for developing a cohesive service program and coordinating the mandated training requirements of all job coaches. This position involves teaching and reinforcing habilitation concepts related to engaging in community-based experiences, including work-readiness responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities and a strong commitment to fostering community connections and employment opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a cohesive service program for individuals with developmental disabilities, focusing on community employment and integration.
  • Coordinate the mandated training requirements of all job coaches, ensuring compliance with state regulations and organizational standards.
  • Teach and reinforce habilitation concepts related to engaging in community-based experiences, including work-readiness responsibilities such as punctuality, communication skills, and workplace etiquette.
  • Collaborate with individuals served, their families, and interdisciplinary teams to identify strengths, interests, and goals related to community employment.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to individuals in accessing and maintaining community-based employment opportunities.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community partners to develop job opportunities and foster inclusive workplaces.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress toward employment goals, adjusting service plans as needed to support individual needs and preferences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, progress notes, and outcomes achieved.
  • Stay updated on best practices, trends, and developments in the field of community employment and disability services.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a community-based setting.
  • Strong understanding of habilitation concepts and principles related to community integration and employment.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement service programs and coordinate training for staff.
  • Knowledge of state regulations and requirements related to employment services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
