Position Overview: The DSP DMT Driver plays a crucial role in our organization, responsible for providing safe transportation and direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position involves completing required training, understanding individuals' rights, supporting service plans, assisting riders, reporting incidents, and ensuring compliance with state regulations and organizational standards. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and a commitment to safety and excellence in service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete required training, including Direct Support Professional (DSP) training and annual training requirements.
  • Understand and uphold the rights of individuals as set forth in Rule 5123.62.
  • Support individual service plans and service outcomes, promoting independence and quality of life.
  • Physically assist riders entering and exiting vehicles, safely handling any assisted devices.
  • Recognize and report major unusual incidents (MUIs) and unusual incidents (UIs) promptly and accurately.
  • Accurately complete and submit state-mandated documentation for services through an electronic software program.
  • Observe organizational standards and best practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Build trust among individuals served, fostering positive relationships and rapport.
  • Demonstrate competence in operating a 12-passenger company vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Perform daily inspections of the company vehicle prior to transporting individuals.
  • Abide by all traffic laws and regulations to ensure the safety of passengers and others on the road.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in transportation or direct support preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong understanding of rights and regulations related to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically able to assist individuals with mobility needs and perform duties related to vehicle
