Position Overview: The DSP Job Trainer plays a crucial role in our organization, overseeing trainee performance of essential functions based on job analysis. This position involves assisting trainees in understanding proper customer service skills, safety procedures, cleanliness of work areas, and expectations associated with community employment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for empowering individuals with disabilities and a commitment to promoting self-determination and self-advocacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee trainee performance of essential job functions, ensuring adherence to job analysis and established standards.
  • Assist trainees in understanding proper customer service skills, safety procedures, cleanliness of work areas, and expectations associated with community employment.
  • Establish person-centered planning for trainees through job accommodations, individual service plan (ISP) team collaborations, natural supports, and mentoring.
  • Present principles of self-determination and self-advocacy to trainees, empowering them to advocate for their own needs and preferences.
  • Accurately complete and submit state-mandated documentation forms and billing for services through our software system.
  • Follow state and SCBDD requirements for accurate reporting of Major and Unusual Incidents (M/UIs).
  • Complete Employment First Training (per Rule 5123:2-2-05) within the first year of employment.
  • Maintain Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) compliance requirements and all state-mandated yearly training and outcomes.
  • Observe best practices and organizational standards as noted in the Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide person-centered support and empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals.
  • Knowledge of state regulations and requirements related to developmental disabilities services.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
