Manual Machinist
Pay is up to $25 an hour
1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in manual machining techniques, possess a keen eye for detail, and demonstrate proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Fabricate, modify, and repair motor components including shafts, housings, and bearing fits to exact specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining operations and tolerances.
  • Measure and inspect finished components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on manual machining equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the development of machining procedures and documentation to improve efficiency and quality control processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in machining technology, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or apprenticeship program in machining preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing or repair environment, preferably in the electrical motor industry.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in machining operations.
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to perform basic calculations and measurements.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Skilled with a variety of tools, including but not limited to lathes, mills, presses, grinders, saws, drills, boring tools, welders, broaches, and metal spray units
  • Able to read various measuring tools: outside micrometers, calipers, inside micrometers, bore gauges, feeler gauges, rules, etc.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
