Production Manager | Direct Hire | $90,000-$100,000 salary | Dekalb, IL

Job Overview: As a Production Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing processes involved in the production of paper products. Your role will involve managing the production team, optimizing manufacturing operations, ensuring quality standards are met, and driving efficiency improvements to meet production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Leadership and Management:

   • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production staff including leads, machine operators, and maintenance technicians.
   • Set clear performance objectives, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
   • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement among the production team.

2. Production Planning and Scheduling:

   • Develop production schedules in coordination with the planning department to meet customer demands and delivery schedules.
   • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
   • Coordinate with other departments such as sales, logistics, and maintenance to ensure smooth production operations.

3. Quality Control and Assurance:

   • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that products meet specifications and customer requirements.
   • Conduct regular inspections of production processes and finished products to identify and address quality issues.
   • Work closely with the quality assurance team to develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements.

4. Equipment Maintenance and Optimization:

   • Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that production equipment is properly maintained and serviced to minimize downtime.
   • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or replacements to improve efficiency and productivity.
   • Implement preventive maintenance programs to prolong the lifespan of machinery and equipment.

5. Continuous Improvement:

   • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and waste minimization within the production environment.
   • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing projects and 5S programs.
   • Analyze production data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions accordingly.

6. Compliance and Safety:

   • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
   • Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
   • Investigate and address any safety incidents or near misses in a timely and thorough manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a corrugated, paper or box manufacturing management or supervisory position is required. 
• Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively coach, motivate, and develop teams.
• Strong understanding of production processes, equipment, and materials used in corrugated manufacturing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Familiarity with quality control principles and practices.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in using computerized production planning and control systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
