Express Employment is recruiting for a Lumber Grader to join the World’s largest manufacturer and supplier of hardwood lumber. This is a full-time, long-term, job with benefits available to start immediately!

 

Job Title:  Lumber Grader

 

Shift and wage:  First shift 6AM- 2:30 PM - Monday - Friday - $20.00/$28.00/hour (BOE)

 

Job Duties:

 

• Grades lumber based on NHLA and proprietary grading standards
• Examines lumber on chain conveyor, or in racks for defects such as knots, stains, decay, splits, faulty edges, pitch pockets, wormholes, and defective milling.
• Grades lumber to ensure specified dimensions.
• Tallies pieces of lumber according to grade and board footage.
• Removes unsatisfactory pieces from conveyor or table and places pieces on stacks, in bins, or on carts.
• Scales board footage and records results.
• Pulls graded lumber into unit form
• Communicates with kiln operator, machine operators and lumber stackers to ensure a consistent flow of quality lumber

Job Requirements:

 

• NHLA certified or equivalent experience
• Possess ability to accurately apply NHLA rules
• Minimum of one (1) year experience grading green and kiln dried domestic lumber - this is not an entry level position
