Job Title: CNC Setup and Operator

 

Job Summary: The CNC Setup and Operator is responsible for preparing, setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision components and parts according to specifications. This role ensures the efficient and accurate operation of CNC equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Machine Setup:

  • Install and set up CNC machines, including loading tools, securing workpieces, and adjusting machine parameters.
  • Verify machine settings, such as tool offsets and work offsets, to ensure accurate machining.

Programming:

  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine machining requirements.

Operation:

  • Operate CNC machines, monitoring the machining process to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machine issues as they arise.
  • Make adjustments to machine settings as necessary to maintain product quality 

Quality Control:

  • Inspect finished products to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform quality checks using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.

 

Material Handling:

  • Load and unload materials and workpieces into the CNC machine.
  • Manage and organize tooling and materials efficiently.

 

 

Safety:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of production, machine settings, and any adjustments made.
  • Document any issues or defects and report them to the appropriate personnel.

     

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in problem-solving and process enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certification in CNC machining).
  • Previous experience as a CNC setup and operator or in a related role is often preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, G-code, and machine controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Good mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
