Manufacturing Machine Operator

Our client, located in the South End, is currently looking for a mechanically inclined Manufacturing Machine Operator to join their team on permanent basis.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Must have clean criminal record and be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen – required to pass the Controlled Goods Program security assessment (5+ years in Canada)
• Previous experience as a Machine Operator
• Previous experience operating press machinery considered a strong asset
• Previous experience working in the printing industry considered a strong asset
• Familiar with basic hand tools and inspection equipment such as calipers both dial and digital
• Ability to work independently/in a team
• Skilled in performing shop math including fractions, percentages and precise measurements (Will be tested)
• Ability to stand for extended periods

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Perform job order review
• Set up / adjust the press for job runs and closely monitoring machines for signs of problem while ensuring output is meeting set specifications
• Monitor product quality during production runs
• Take corrective measures when quality standards are not met and recommending measures to improve productivity, product quality, and safety
• Troubleshoot equipment
• Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs
• Perform routine press maintenance, safety checks, upkeep and cleaning
• Maintain acceptable productivity standards while minimizing raw material waste
• Follow manufacturing and processing procedures, setting machine or equipment controls, carrying out production and inspection processes as documented
• Maintain a clean working area
• Assist R&D and Production teams in researching and developing new applications
• Other duties as assigned

Salary: $24.00 per hour plus a $2.00 per hour overnight premium  

Shifts: 10:00pm to 6:00am
