We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision parts and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires a high level of technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Machine Setup and Operation:

    • Set up CNC machines including lathes, mills, or routers according to job specifications.
    • Load materials into the machine and secure them properly for machining.
    • Select and install appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures.
    • Program machines using CNC software and adjust machine settings as necessary to ensure proper operation.
  2. Production and Quality Control:

    • Monitor machine operations to ensure parts are produced to the required specifications and tolerances.
    • Conduct in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
    • Make adjustments to machine settings or tooling as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
    • Perform first-piece inspections and verify dimensions against engineering drawings.
  3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

    • Identify and troubleshoot issues with machine operation, tooling, or programming.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
    • Keep work area clean and organized, including removing chips and debris from machines and workpieces.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Record production data, including quantities produced, machine downtime, and any quality issues.
    • Complete production logs, inspection reports, and other documentation accurately and timely.
    • Communicate any issues or concerns with supervisors or engineering staff as needed.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Follow company policies and guidelines for operating CNC equipment and handling hazardous materials.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety training programs.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CNC machinist.
  • Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, including programming and tooling selection.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and/or CAM software.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
