We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced 1st Class Structural Fitter to join our team. The ideal candidate must have the ability to read and interpret structural prints accurately and pass a welding test at the beginning of employment. This position requires a high level of proficiency in structural fitting and fabrication, with at least 5 years of experience in a fabrication shop setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reading and Interpretation of Structural Prints:

    • Read and understand structural blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
    • Interpret technical drawings to determine project requirements and specifications.
    • Ability to visualize the finished product and understand how various components fit together.
  2. Structural Fitting and Fabrication:

    • Perform structural fitting and fabrication activities according to project requirements.
    • Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
    • Ensure accuracy and precision in fitting components together based on blueprints and specifications.
    • Perform layout work, including marking, measuring, and cutting materials to size.
  3. Welding Proficiency:

    • Pass a welding test at the beginning of employment to demonstrate proficiency in welding techniques.
    • Perform welding tasks as needed, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components securely.
    • Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper safety measures are followed during welding operations.
  4. Quality Control and Inspection:

    • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
    • Identify and correct any defects or discrepancies in the fabrication process.
    • Follow established quality control procedures to maintain high standards of workmanship.
  5. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines at all times.
    • Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a structural fitter in a fabrication shop setting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural blueprints and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to pass a welding test at the beginning of employment.
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fitting and fabrication work.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.
