The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in preparing and coordinating grants for our organization. This position will be responsible for researching, identifying, and applying for grant opportunities. Additionally, The Grant Writer will manage the grant application process, ensuring compliance with guidelines and deadlines. This position will work closely with various departments within the organization to gather information, prepare grant proposals, and monitor the progress and outcomes of funded projects. This role requires excellent organizational skills, exceptional writing and research skills, and a deep understanding of grant applications.

Position Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and research potential grant funding opportunities.
  • Evaluate Request for Proposals (RFPs) thoroughly to determine eligibility, requirements, and funding goals.
  • Manage the end-to-end grant application process, including drafting letters of inquiry, pre-proposals, and full grant applications.
  • Collaborate with program directors, managers, and subject matter experts to gather relevant information and data for proposal content.
  • Conduct thorough research and compile data for grant proposals.
  • Work with program managers and directors to assist with grant budgets and ensure true program cost representation.
  • Develop and oversee annual strategic funding plans for multiple programs (grants) by determining program needs, goals, and funding gaps.
  • Work with department directors to create project logic models as applicable.
  • Analyze and evaluate program data, needs, objectives, timelines, goals, demographics, and evaluation methods in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Stay abreast of grant funding trends and statistics to identify and plan for shifting trends and priorities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community-based organizations/stakeholders to identify areas of prospective collaboration and partnerships including attending community meetings/webinars etc.
  • Monitor and track grant progress, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Manage grants software database and digital files ensuring all information is up to date and accurate.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Must have an associate degree or the equivalent of experience in a related field.
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with grant application processes and a track record of proven grant acquisitions.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in grant proposal writing.
  • Excellent computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007; particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using databases as a tool for effective operations and knowledge
  • Strong time management/prioritization skills and solid judgment with outstanding attention to detail/follow-up.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven
  • Proficiency in grant management software and tools
  • Knowledge of grant writing techniques, including budget development and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Advanced project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from various sources.
