We are seeking a Help Desk Support Technician to join our clients' dynamic Information Technology department. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team environment while providing technical support to our company-wide desktop and network systems.

As a Help Desk Support Technician, you will play a vital role in providing technical support and training to users across the organization. You will be responsible for installing, upgrading, diagnosing, and resolving computer-related issues, as well as managing system software upgrades and performing preventive maintenance on computer hardware. Additionally, you will assist with network administration functions, train personnel in the use of desktop and networked systems and maintain documentation for phone systems and email clients.

Qualifications:

  • An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Information Technology, Help Desk experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of outstanding customer service skills, with a focus on actively listening to user needs and providing timely, effective solutions.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information effectively to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to systematically troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including experience with operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS), productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite), and troubleshooting tools.
  • Familiarity with network administration concepts, including LAN/WAN configurations, TCP/IP protocols, and network security principles.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with users to install and configure new computer hardware and software, ensuring seamless functionality post-installation.
  • Execute hardware upgrades to improve performance, including the replacement of computer components, and conduct thorough testing to ensure optimal operation.
  • Oversee system software upgrades for computers, ensuring compatibility with business applications and minimizing disruptions.
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to diagnose a wide range of computer-related issues, including hardware, software, network, and user-related problems, with a focus on providing efficient resolutions.
  • Develop and implement procedures to address computer problems, resolving issues within capabilities and coordinating with appropriate resources for complex problems.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on computer hardware according to established schedules and procedures, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Evaluate and analyze hardware and software products, making recommendations based on business needs and technological advancements.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot computer network problems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to optimize network performance.
  • Provide comprehensive training to personnel on the use of desktop and networked systems hardware and software, ensuring users are equipped with the necessary skills for efficient operation.
  • Monitor and manage computer inventory, including requesting spare parts, materials, and supplies as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Administer Local Area Network (LAN) functions, including user and printer administration, support, and file management, to facilitate smooth network operations.
  • Monitor and respond to tickets in the IssueTrak system, addressing hardware setup and technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Provide training and support on telephone systems and collaborative tools such as Jabber and Teams, ensuring users can effectively utilize communication platforms.
