Our client, a reputable not-for-profit organization in the renewable energy sector, is seeking an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager to join their team on a full-time basis. This position is a hybrid role (3 days in office, 2 days at home), and therefore requires someone who resides in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Champion the integrity of the organization’s brand in all marketing and communications endeavours
  • Develop innovative communication messaging to engage and garner support from the organization’s stakeholders
  • Oversee the creation of compelling internal and external content, including media releases, newsletters, blogs, reports, position statements, executive speeches, video scripts and other thought leadership content
  • Manage the organization’s website (WordPress) and social media content, layout and appearance
  • Collaborate with and manage third-party vendors for web development, public relations, translation, design, and other services to fulfill marketing objectives
  • Drive the organization’s social media strategy to enhance brand awareness and cultivate influencer relationships (currently using Facebook, X, and LinkedIn)
  • Lead strategic media relations efforts, including story ideation, pitching, and media outreach, to promote the organization’s positive coverage
  • Manage all marketing and communications activities for the organization’s members, sponsors, and stakeholders when coordinating events and webinars
  • Contribute to business development initiatives aimed at expanding the organization’s product and service offerings
  • Manage the organization’s online presence and participation in industry events, assessing the ROI of trade shows and speaking engagements
  • Assist with internal CRM system support
  • Monitor, measure, and analyze KPIs to evaluate effectiveness of marketing strategies, providing quarterly reports to the executive management team and suggesting improvements
  • Collaborate with senior management and consultants to establish and achieve marketing & communications objectives
  • Manage and oversee one subordinate (Digital Marketing Coordinator)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive management team

Required skills and qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in public relations and marketing management, preferably in a nonprofit or B2B environment, taking the lead on both strategy and execution
  • Excellent English communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Must have experience with website and social media content management as well as reviewing and analyzing marketing analytics
  • Experience interviewing subject-matter experts and ghost-writing for them (e.g. blogs, social media posts, statements, etc.)
  • Must have experience with the full MS Office Suite
  • Demonstrated experience in project and budget management
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency
  • Must be comfortable with occasional travel across Canada (to attend conferences and other events supporting the organization)

Assets:

  • Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field considered a strong asset
  • Bilingualism (English / French)
  • Experience with design platforms (e.g. Canva, InDesign)
  • Experience with Social Media Management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprout Social, SOCi, etc.)
  • Previous experience supervising and/or managing employees
  • Familiarity with the renewable energy industry
  • Experience working in a marketing agency

 

Schedule: Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:30pm

Salary: $70,000 to $95,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
