Job Title: Yard Jockey

Job Description:

50-55 Hours a week. As a Yard Jockey, you will play a critical role in the efficient operation of our transportation and logistics activities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth movement of trailers and containers within our yard or facility premises. You will work closely with our logistics team to facilitate the timely loading and unloading of goods, as well as maintaining the organization of the yard.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trailer Movement: Safely operate yard trucks or jockey trucks to move trailers and containers to designated locations within the yard or facility premises.

2. Loading and Unloading Support: Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers and containers as needed, coordinating with warehouse personnel or truck drivers to ensure timely completion.

3. Yard Organization: Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the yard, ensuring that trailers and containers are arranged efficiently to optimize space and facilitate easy access.

4. Equipment Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of yard trucks and related equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.

5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating yard trucks and handling trailers or containers. Maintain a focus on safety at all times to prevent accidents and injuries.

6. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with warehouse staff, truck drivers, and supervisors to coordinate yard activities and ensure operational efficiency.

7. Documentation: Complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to yard activities, such as trailer movement logs or inspection reports, accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver''s license with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience operating yard trucks or similar equipment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting and moving heavy objects as needed.
