Southeast Texas company is searching for a computer operator to assist their technicians working in their Radio Graphic department performing X-Ray testing on pipe construction.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Radiographic Testing (RT):

    • Assist in conducting radiographic inspections using X-rays or gamma rays to examine the integrity and quality of pipes, welds, and other components.
  2. Equipment Operation:

    • Operate and calibrate radiographic equipment, including X-ray machines and gamma-ray sources, to ensure accurate and reliable testing results.
  3. Safety Compliance:

    • Strictly adhere to radiation safety protocols and regulations to protect yourself and others during radiographic operations.
  4. Pipe Inspection:

    • Assist with inspection of pipes for defects, such as weld discontinuities, corrosion, cracks, or other anomalies that could affect structural integrity.
  5. Documentation:

    • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting the inspection methods, findings, and recommendations for further action.
    • Maintain accurate records of all inspections performed.
  6. Quality Assurance:

    • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the reliability and consistency of radiographic testing results.
  7. Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and other relevant personnel to discuss inspection results, suggest corrective actions, and provide guidance on pipe quality.
  8. Maintenance:

    • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of NDT equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
  9. Continuing Education:

    • Stay updated on industry trends, new testing methods, and equipment advancements to improve skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional education or certification in non-destructive testing (NDT) is highly beneficial.

  2. Technical Skills: Proficiency in computers with working knowledge of date entry and various computer programs.

  3. Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to NDT inspections, particularly radiation safety.

  4. Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders and convey inspection findings.

  5. Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze inspection results and provide recommendations for further actions or repairs.

  6. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for identifying and documenting defects or irregularities in pipes and welds.

  7. Physical Fitness: Physical fitness may be necessary for performing inspections in various conditions, including confined spaces and outdoor environments.
