Selma farm equipment company is seeking experienced and qualified Manual Machinists with knowledge on operating Manual Lathes.  

Schedule: M-F Day shift
Pay: $18/hr with room to grow

Your responsibilities and tasks:

• Repairs damages to parts by using manual machine tools such as lathes, mills or drill press
• Independently sets up and machines parts for repair purposes
• Inspects all repair parts for damages, repairs damages as necessary
• Sets up measuring tools and checks pertinent dimension. Responsible for own quality
• Reviews and completes required documentation and administrative paperwork such as repair documentation, quality documents or daily labor sheets. Forwards daily labor sheets in a timely manner
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Fulfills additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Basic Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent
• Experience setting up and operating manual machine tools
• Reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, inspection reports, procedures and manuals. Able to write basic reports
• Performing calculations and applying mathematical concepts such as geometry, basic algebra and basic trigonometry
• Detail oriented

• 3 to 5 years’ experience in manual machining of large diameter, stainless steel precision parts using engine lathes, preferably machining of parts from high speed centrifuges
• Experience working with the metric system, including use of metric measuring tools and reading / understanding of metric drawings
• Experience in evaluating and identifying part failures such as corrosion, erosion, cavitation, or fatigue in stainless steel parts.
• Self-motivated, dependable and able to work with little direction
• Adaptable to changing work demands and desire to learn new skills
• Good social skills and able to work in a team
• Be punctual and able to follow attendance and safety policies

Physical Requirements:

• Sit, stand, bend, reach, walk for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Use of steps, stairs, lifts routinely
• Regularly exposed to manufacturing areas that may require personal protective equipment
• Regularly exposed to a manufacturing work environment that may be dirty, greasy, and noisy
