Responsible for accurately predicting the costs, resources, and labor required, ensuring that the estimates align with the technical, mechanical, and structural specifications of the project. You will work closely with the project management team, engineers, architects, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive and competitive blueprints. GMP experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and project plans. Review and understand project specifications, scopes of work, and other documentation to ensure the accuracy of estimates.

Site Assessment:

Conduct on-site visits, when possible, to assess potential challenges and requirements. Gather information on access, topography, and existing conditions that may impact the construction process.

Cost Estimation:

Develop detailed cost estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work. Itemize material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Include necessary permits, insurance, taxes, and other fees in the cost estimates.

Subcontractor Coordination:

Solicit and evaluate subcontractor bids and quotes. Work with subcontractors to clarify the scope and ensure estimates are comprehensive.

Vendor Liaison:

Obtain quotes from suppliers for materials and equipment. Negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.

Risk Analysis:

Identify potential risks associated with project estimates. Recommend contingency plans and allowances. Collaborate with the project team to confirm scope and to reconcile any differences in budget estimates. Prepare and present reports detailing the basis of the estimate, including the assumptions and exclusions.

Value Engineering:

Suggest cost-saving alternatives and identify potential areas for improvement. Assist in evaluating the cost implications of design decisions and change orders.

Software Utilization:

Utilize estimating software to create and maintain a database of historical cost data. Ensure all estimates are stored and managed according to company policy.

Compliance:

Ensure all estimates comply with industry standards, building codes, and regulations. Verify that estimates adhere to contractual terms and conditions.

Bid Preparation:

Assist in the preparation of bid packages and procurement documentation. Participate in bid submission processes as required.
