Our client, conveniently located in Piscataway, NJ, needs a Building Maintenance Mechanic / Electronic Technician. This position will start immediately due to the expansion of a new division for this facility.

Candidates to consider will have the following:

  • NJ Boiler Operator’s license (minimum Black Seal)
  • EPA Refrigerant Recovery license

In this role, you will:
· Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), other building mechanical and electrical systems, plant-wide electronic control systems and distribution center equipment.
· Perform skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and construction trades.
· Install, alter, maintain, troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment including HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, fire protection, hydraulics, pneumatics, steam, boilers, pumps, compressors, and engines.

Other Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Maintain, troubleshoot and repair distribution center equipment and systems, including conveyors, power transmission equipment, packaging machinery, and controls.
· Operate, maintain and repair pneumatic, electric, electronic, and computer-based building management systems and HVAC controls.
· Program, troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other microprocessor based and electronic controls.
· Test electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
· Test and maintain water chemistry and treatment standards in boilers, cooling towers, and closed-loop piping systems.
· Maintain records for machinery operation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing.
· Purchase parts, equipment and tools.
· Coordinate efforts of contractors and other employees working on facility equipment.

 

Knowledge and Experience needed :
· High school diploma, general education degree (GED), Vocational/technical certificate, 3 years accredited vocational or trade school, or 3- 5 years relevant experience in similar position
· Demonstrate considerable skill in and knowledge of practices, methods, tools, equipment, and materials of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and electronic technician trades.
· Must have training and experience in programming, troubleshooting and repair of PLCs, and other electronic controls.
· Ability to read and interpret technical and construction drawings.
· Ability to read and develop electric/electronic schematics, control diagrams and ladder logic diagrams.

 

Hours/ Shifts:
Because this will be a new department, the schedule may or will be rotating depending on the demand in the beginning. They have decided on a 4-day work week at 10 hours. The schedule may change depending on their needs, but candidates must be flexible at first. You will need to be flexible to work 1st and 2nd shift and the 4-day work will include possible Saturdays.

 

Pay Rate:
$38.50-$40.10 /hr DOE

 

This position is Contract-to-hire but also possible Direct Hire depending on the candidate.
