Express Employment Professionals Calgary South is currently hiring for a Journeyperson Powerline Technician to work for our reputable client in the south of Calgary, AB. The primary responsibility of this role will be to foster an environment of construction execution excellence. Duties

  • Construction of overhead and underground power lines, and related utility equipment.
  • Assist in the supervision of contracted labour (construction crews, hydrovac etc).
  • Cable Installation and Terminations.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specification.
  • Install, alter, repair, and maintain various electrical systems and related equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects and to ensure compliance with code.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Comply with standards and procedures of the Iconic Power Systems Health & Safety Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to fellow employees and apprentices.

Qualifications

  • Powerline Technician Certificate, Red Seal Certificate is considered an asset
  • Safety tickets (i.e. First Aid, Working at Heights, and Confined Space)
  • Experience in installing, commissioning, and modifying high voltage underground and overhead distribution facilities, including live line work.
  • Thorough understanding of laws, codes, and regulations related to the PLT trade
  • Proficient in fundamentals of UWPC
  • Ability to lift up-to 50lbs

Operations

  • Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure that client needs are being met or exceeded
  • Identify potential project scope change to Supervisor’s

Employment Pre-requisites and Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (DZ & AZ is considered an asset).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
