Mechanic/Fabricator Shop Assistant

The Mechanic/ Fabricator is responsible for performing maintenance and repair work to company''s vehicle and equipment fleet. In addition to maintenance and repair duties, they will be responsible to fabricate and repair tools, equipment, gates etc. They will work under the direction of the Shop and Equipment Manager who will assign duties as necessary to meet the objectives of the utility.

Primary responsibilities and job requirements are as follows:

* Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as changing oil and filters, checking batteries, performing basic brake service and lubricating equipment and machinery.

* Perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of engine, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

* Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that repairs were completed properly.

* Fabricate and repair tools and equipment.

* Technical training and/or experience in field required.

* Welding and fabrication skills preferred.

* Familiarity with the usage of diagnostic scan tools preferred.

* Repairs and maintenance will be carried out both at our shop and in the field at various jobsites within Salinas and/or close proximity of.

* Possession of a valid CA driver license required. Class A or B preferred, though a willingness to obtain a Class A or B license is also acceptable.

* Maintain a clean work environment with particular attention given to safety at all times.

* Regular and prompt arrival for work is expected.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $14.00 /hour
