A local Construction company seeks an Estimator/Project Estimator who specializes in deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Their duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using computer software to weigh production risks or compile reports, and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.

 

This position is responsible for developing cost estimates, development, and construction schedules ranging from rough-order-of-magnitude level to detailed working cost estimates, guiding owner selections, and presenting the results in a format suitable for client and design team use. We are looking for someone with excellent people and communication skills who can think outside the box for creative problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

Proactive, flexible team player who is comfortable working in a small company environment and taking on a leadership role

• Prepare development and construction capital cost estimates, specifications, and construction schedules, and prepare production operating schedules.
• Participate in project economic evaluations and offer value engineering ideas.
• Assist in other areas required to deliver a quality product on schedule and budget.
• Manage documentation and cost/ profit analysis.
• Worked as estimator/project manager for a minimum of 5 years in a general contracting company
• Highly motivated, self-starter
• Organized, with excellent time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work in it and on it simultaneously
• Able to take coaching and feedback
• Forward-looking, able to see the problem well in advance, having a solution in place before a crisis
• Responsible for accurate and timely estimating and management of assigned projects. Projects are bid with precise pricing, scope, specification, and production rates.
• Manages jobs according to schedule, on budget, and at or above bid-day gross profit margin.
• Scope of Work is completed to the Company standard of quality and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Relevant training and certification with a project cost estimating department or organization and 3-5 years of experience working in a similar capacity.
• Experience with preparing construction cost estimates is preferred.
• The position must have competence with analysis, numeration, research, and the use of spreadsheet and scheduling software (the minimum requirement is proficiency in Excel and experience with database cost estimating software (BuilderTrend or similar project management software experience is highly desirable).
• Proven experience with organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving in time-sensitive situations.
• This position must demonstrate leadership abilities and possess above-average written and oral communication skills.
• Working well in a team environment is also essential for this position. (Possibility for a Remote working environment as well.)
• Comprehension of all units of measure, able to convert between various units.
• Strong mathematical skills grounded in algebra, geometry, and simple math.
• Computer literacy, computer estimating, complete competency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Master Builder.
