Security Officer

Salary: $23.50-$24.50

As a Security Officer, you will:

• Able to tactfully communicate with individuals and gain their trust for authority, de-escalating anger to bring about satisfactory solutions.

• Investigate incidents and crimes with the aptitude to complete clear, concise, and accurate incident reports and other documentation.
• Perform routine and emergency locking of facility, possibly assisting in crowd control.
• Patrol and inspect interior and exterior of facility, on foot or in a vehicle. Respond promptly and safely to calls for assistance per department guidelines.
• Assume control of emergency situations in cooperation with medical professionals, fire/police agencies and/or management.
• Effectively operate a variety of equipment including portable radios, computers, closed-circuit and access control systems.
• Respond to alarms and other emergent situations.
• Investigate and deter crime and related incidents; inspect buildings for prowlers, vagrants, fire, and safety hazards.

Security work involves walking, running, talking, hearing, smelling, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Periodically, the Security Officer will be required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. Normal color vision is required as well as close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, night vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. (Hearing is critical to success in this job classification.)

The employee must be able to enter and exit vehicles quickly while wearing approximately 10 pounds of equipment. In response to crimes in progress, fire alarms, medical emergencies, etc., the employee must be able to run. Manual dexterity, coupled with good hand and arm strength is required to use traffic control devices, light flares, flashlights, perform CPR or administer First Aid, etc. The Security Officer will be required to lift objects and/or persons more than 80lbs on occasion and stand for extended periods of time when directing traffic and/or controlling crowds at special events.

Security Officers will be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as: heat, cold, rain and at times, potentially dangerous environments, diseases, chemicals, and excessive noise.

Qualifications:

• All Security Officer must be 18 years of age at the time of employment.
• Have a valid Security license if preferred. 
• Must have a High School or GED and proof thereof.
• Proficiency in English reading, writing and verbal communication skills are required.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License with no major or continuing driving offenses that demonstrate lack of concern for safety un the last 5 years.
• Ability to communicate using a 2-way radio.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to walk and stand on your feet for long periods.
• Comfortable working overtime and under any weather conditions
