Job Description: Production Equipment Maintenance Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Production Equipment Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, reliability, and performance of our production equipment. Your primary focus will be on conducting regular maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing equipment breakdowns, and implementing preventive maintenance measures to minimize downtime and optimize production efficiency. This role requires a strong mechanical and technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform Routine Maintenance:
  • Conduct regular inspections, tests, and maintenance procedures on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust machinery parts to prevent equipment failure or damage.
  • Identify and replace worn-out or faulty components in a timely manner to avoid unplanned downtime.
  1. Troubleshoot and Repair:
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, mechanical failures, or electrical issues promptly.
  • Utilize technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify problems and develop effective repair strategies.
  • Collaborate with the production team to address equipment issues and minimize disruption to manufacturing processes.
  1. Preventive Maintenance:
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to reduce the occurrence of equipment failures and increase equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct inspections and performance tests to identify potential issues and address them proactively.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including maintenance logs, equipment histories, and spare parts inventory.
  1. Equipment Upgrades and Modifications:
  • Collaborate with engineers and equipment manufacturers to evaluate and implement equipment upgrades, modifications, or retrofits.
  • Stay updated with advancements in equipment technology and industry best practices to recommend improvements and enhance equipment efficiency.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Generate reports on equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Communicate maintenance issues, requirements, and recommendations to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while performing maintenance tasks and working with hazardous equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, such as OSHA, and contribute to a safe working environment for all employees.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant vocational training is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Production Equipment Maintenance Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical circuits, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance principles and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts to address equipment emergencies or planned maintenance activities.
