Full time – Temp to hire

Monday thru Friday – 8am to 5pm

$20.80 to $25.90hr depending on experience.

 

High end manufacturing company producing precision, quality aerospace fasteners is looking for a Centerless Grinder Operator to join their team in Burbank.

 

Summary: Set up and operate one or more centerless grinding machines to grind external or internal cylindrical or tapered surfaces of metal workpieces to blueprint specifications.

 

Responsibilities:

• Read blueprints and job order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances and number of parts to be ground, and tooling instructions such as grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures and grinding wheels used.
• Mount grinding wheels and regulate wheels on the spindles.
• Dress wheels to specifications.
• Move controls to set specified grinding speeds, feed rates and wheel spacing.
• Position and secure work rest at specified height.
• Lift and position workpieces manually or with hoist.
• Start machines and observe operations.
• Verify dimensions of ground workpiece for conformance to specifications.
• Change worn grinding wheels.
• Set up automatic work feeding device.

 

Qualifications:

• Accurate measuring skills using a micrometer.
• Ability to lift up to 45lbs with assistance.
• Ideally, 3-5 years’ experience in a shop environment.
• Minimum one year experience with overhead crane and forklift.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Grinder.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience on all types of grinders.
• Able to work in a fast-paced quality –oriented manufacturing environment.
