Job Description:

Express Employment Professionals is currently recruiting for a full-time Assembly Technician to work with our client in Northwest Portland. This position is with a local precision measuring equipment company. The Assembly Technician will be working in the Cable Assembly department, contributing to the assembly of cables, stripping cable wire, soldering, mending, and testing wires, among other tasks. This is an ongoing, evaluation-to-hire position with a great company!

Pay: $17-22/hr (DOE)
Schedule: Mon - Fri; 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Duration: Ongoing, Evaluation-to-Hire

Assembly Technician Job Duties:

• Assemble cables, following directions and work instructions.
• Strip cable wire, preserving internal shield and conductor integrity.
• Solder (lead-free); tin-exposed wire ends, solder wires to connector pins, and through holes on PCBs.
• Work as part of a production team to assemble the finished product.
• Review manufacturing orders and check the part drawing and assembly instructions to ensure proper assembly the first time.
• Unpack cardboard boxes, sort and place material or items on tables, racks, or bins.
• Pull parts for manufacturing orders, assemble components, examine connections for correct fit, and fasten parts and sub-assemblies.
• Use testing equipment to qualify assembled parts.
• Note any extra material needed and sign off before returning the order to the production manager for completion.
• Clean assembled parts and place them in protective bags or boxes.
• Package assembled parts into cardboard boxes according to company standards.
• Use small tools and jigs to manipulate parts for assembly.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment according to company policy.
• Provide support and backup for other technicians as needed.
• Communicate production status and issues to the production manager.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
• Test cables for performance utilizing appropriate test equipment and following work instructions.

Assembly Technician Job Qualifications:

• Must be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines.
• Must be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervision; work well under pressure; able to manage multiple projects.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Continually required to stand, walk, and sit.
• Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
• Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl.
• Continually required to talk or hear.
• Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
• Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 25 pounds.
• Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional work in high, precarious places.
• Occasional work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions.
• Occasional loud noise (examples: construction, heavy equipment in the area).
• Additional remarks regarding work environment: climate-controlled production environment.
