Salary: Up to $28/hr

The function of the Staff Accountant is to maintain a daily tracking and knowledge of receivables, customer account balances and the general flow of moneys incoming to a Shakopee company. This requires a working knowledge of A/R processes and procedures, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.

In addition to the duties specific to this position, the A/R Bookkeeper will also be asked to answer phones and take orders when needed, and will provide timely response and reaction to any customer inquiries and needs.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Performs full cycle accounts payable functions by coding, vouchering, reviewing, and processing vendor invoices while ensuring compliance with AP internal control, policies, and procedures. Being willing to update procedures for efficiency and accuracy as needed. Willing to take a deeper look at the procedures and make recommendations for change. 
•    Process daily job and batch close transactions. Reconciling them and resolving any issues. 
•    Build AR invoices from the Job close process and assist the AR clerk when needed. 
•    Process AR credits from customer service team. 
•    Answers inquiries from vendors and employees and resolves outstanding issues
•    Performs GL coding, vouchering, monthly payments, and reconciliations for all credit card transactions
•    Assists with Fixed Asset tracking, project coding, and financial metrics measuring. 
•    Coordinate the processing of invoices for payment, account coding, data entry and required approvals within accounting system
•    Process commission reporting bi-weekly. 
•    Sets up new vendors and updates W-9’s as needed
•    Maintain the 1099 data for vendors file annually
•    Weekly payment processing using an integrated payables system and managing positive pay uploads. 
•    Monthly processing of sales and use tax calculation and payments. 
•    Provide customer service and support to internal departments and vendors with respect to various inquiries
•    Maintains accounts payable related files and records
•    Ad hoc requests as needed

 

Experience Required:
•    3+ years of AP experience 
•    Strong accounting foundational knowledge
•    Experience in working within a manufacturing company
•    Familiarity with sales/use tax 
•    Strong General Ledger knowledge

Physical Requirements:  Must be able to sit for long periods of time, stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds when needed!
