Salary: Up to $30/hr, BOE

Job Summary:  Do you like tinkering with things and knowing how they work?  We are looking for multiple skilled Shop Mechanics to assemble, maintain and repair machinery and vehicles. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of machines, engines, and mechanical systems. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Duties include:

  • Inspect/measure performance of maintenance personnel to improve overall Shop operations
  • Assists with training and development of maintenance personnel
  • Understand/apply company safety practices including DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules
  • Effectively handles special assignments as directed
  • Continuously improves processes
  • Manage budgets, labor, scheduling, and resources to deliver services to our customers
  • Assist Shop & Service manager with relationship process for equipment failure, machine maintenance and customer damage resolution
  • Assist Shop & Service manager the diagnosis and completion of maintenance/repair of fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Assist Shop & Service manager that employees have the proper training and skill level to provide accurate diagnosis of maintenance issues and perform needed repairs
  • Ensure timely completion of repairs, and tests repairs to ensure proper and safe completion
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and promote a safe/productive work environment
  • In field service and maintenance of equipment
  • Diagnose all Diesel Engine, Hydraulic and Electrical issues as needed for Shop & Service Manager

Location: Granite City, IL
Position type: Full Time, Evaluation Hire
Shift: Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm (lots of Overtime opportunity, but never required)
Pay: $17/hr-$30/hr, BOE

Qualifications

  • Technical Associates Degree or Program Certificate preferred
  • 5 years of experience in Rail MOW equipment maintenance preferred
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience as a field and shop mechanic
  • Mechanical background with an extensive knowledge of Railroad MOW construction equipment
  • Proficiency MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
